Cha Hyun-soo is isolated, depressed, and living alone when the residents of his apartment building begin transforming into monsters. Season 1 runs 141 chapters and tells a complete story. Netflix adapted it in 2019 and went on to produce additional seasons, but the Season 1 manhwa functions as its own contained narrative.

Romance is where the format's range shows up most clearly. Korean romance webtoons had large readerships years before action manhwa broke internationally, and several of the completed series are among the most-read stories in WEBTOON's history.

Completed romance manhwa also solve the specific problem of the love triangle's unresolved endpoint, a genre trope that only becomes meaningful when the series actually commits to an answer. Ongoing romance series can sustain indefinite ambiguity; completed ones have to decide. Park Tae-Joon's series about a student who can switch between an unattractive and an attractive body is still running, but Part 1 tells a complete story around the protagonist's identity crisis and school arc before the series pivots to underground fighting organizations. I Love Yoo: ongoing, not completed

Shin-Ae Yoo is sharp, self-protective, and resistant to most of the warmth other people offer her, for reasons the series takes its time explaining. WEBTOON currently lists Episode 293 as the latest public episode, labels the series "will return," and still shows a weekly schedule. It is a worthwhile readable exception, but not a completed recommendation, so it is excluded from the 19.

Completed BL manhwa

Two completed BL romance manhwa anchor the strict list: Semantic Error (105 episodes on Manta's current Full ver. listing / 109 AniList chapters, slow-burn campus romance) and Blood Bank (61 AniList chapters on Lezhin, power-dynamic thriller). Best completed martial arts manhwa

The Breaker / The Breaker: New Waves

Chapters: 72 + 203 = 275 AniList chapters | Platform: Various | Status: Both series complete

The Breaker follows Shi-Woon Yi, a bullied student who becomes the disciple of a Nine Arts Dragon, a top-ranked murim martial artist. AniList records 72 chapters for the original series and 203 for The Breaker: New Waves, 275 together. Both are finished. The Eternal Force sequel launched later and is ongoing, but the original two-part run stands alone.

For readers who want murim done with serious craft and completed arcs rather than ongoing power scaling.

Return of the Blossoming Blade (175 public episodes currently listed on WEBTOON, ongoing) is also worth noting here, but it is not part of the completed count. The Breaker's approach to power progression is different from the cultivation manhwa that followed it. Shi-Woon starts genuinely powerless and learns through a master-student relationship rather than through a system interface. The series is the closest Korean equivalent to a Hong Kong martial arts film in structure: the craft, the lineage of styles, and the cost of mastery are all present. The Breaker: New Waves escalates the scale and introduces faction-level conflict. Both arcs completed. Both are worth reading.

Tower of God: on hiatus, but readable now

Tower of God doesn't fit the "completed" category. SIU's series concluded Season 3 on February 23, 2025, and entered hiatus. No Season 4 date has been announced. WEBTOON currently lists 652 published episodes and says the series will return; AniList marks it releasing. The available run is readable on WEBTOON, but it is not a closed story.

The reason it belongs in the surrounding conversation, not the 19: reading it today means reaching a season finale rather than a chapter that stopped mid-arc. If you want the most complete Tower of God experience available right now, start reading, but do not mistake that stopping point for an ending.
