Save Tower of God for when you want a long commitment: it has 652 episodes and is between seasons. All ten picks below are Korean series with official English editions on WEBTOON, and we checked each series page on October 13, 2026 for status, update day and what's locked to the app.
How we picked the best manhwa on WEBTOON
This list is for people already on WEBTOON, or about to sign up, who want to know what to read there. We ranked by platform fit: whether a series reads well as a phone-length vertical scroll, and whether it's finished, weekly or on a break. Popularity is a secondary signal, and where we cite it, it's the view and subscriber counts on each WEBTOON series page.
One change from our older version: it included Lore Olympus, unOrdinary and I Love Yoo, which are on WEBTOON but aren't manhwa. Per Wikipedia, Lore Olympus is "a romance webcomic created by New Zealand artist Rachel Smythe," unOrdinary is "an American manga-inspired superhero webcomic," and I Love Yoo is "an American webtoon series." All three are worth reading; they just don't belong on a manhwa list.
A note on access. Completed doesn't mean every episode is free on the website. Most completed pages here show "Read more episodes on the app!", and ongoing series hold their newest episodes for the app: on October 13, Eleceed's page said "Read 10 new episodes only on the app!" Check the series page before you assume the whole archive is open.

Status: COMPLETED on WEBTOON, 257 chapters on AniList.
"After binge-watching beauty videos online, a shy comic book fan masters the art of makeup" and "becomes her school's prettiest pretty girl overnight," says WEBTOON. The makeup premise undersells it; the story is about how tiring it is to keep up an image. Yaongyi wrote and drew it, and it ran from April 9, 2018 to April 10, 2023 per AniList. Its WEBTOON page shows 1B views and 7.5M subscribers, the most subscribers of any pick here. It's the easiest romance on the app to start because it's finished and needs no genre knowledge.

2. The Remarried Empress
The Remarried Empress. Cover via AniList.
Status: COMPLETED on WEBTOON, main story 247 chapters on Naver.
Navier is "an empress perfect in every way" until her husband "brought home a mistress and demanded a divorce." Her answer: "I accept this divorce… And I request an approval of my remarriage." AniList credits Alpha Tart with the original story and Sumpul with the art. WEBTOON shows 568.3M views.
Readers still argue about it. A July 2026 r/webtoons thread about the rival character drew 178 comments; the poster wrote, "Personally I have started to feel she is pretty tragic!" One reply agreed, "i pity her. she was never given a chance," while another pushed back on the lead: "Navier never struggles."

3. Cheese in the Trap
Status: COMPLETED on WEBTOON, four seasons on AniList.
Seol, a "model student," gets "caught up with Jung, a senior who's also known as Mr. Perfect," and the synopsis asks the question the whole series runs on: "is he intentionally turning her life upside down?" Soonkki wrote and drew it. AniList splits it into four seasons totaling 299 chapters, from July 7, 2010 to March 29, 2017. It's the oldest pick here, and WEBTOON notes it's "Now a major (K-Drama) adaptation." Read it if you want a romantic lead you can't quite trust.

Status: COMPLETED on WEBTOON, 268 chapters on AniList.
"Once the bullies target you, it's game over," the synopsis begins. "But then Gray arrived." He's small, but "his calculative and brutal fighting" turns the school's order over. Seopass wrote it and Jin-Seok Kim (Razen) drew it; AniList lists it as finished on October 14, 2023. It's the action pick we'd hand a new WEBTOON reader: grounded, finished, and every fight costs something.

Jiwoo has "the lightning quick reflexes of a cat," and his partner Kayden is a secret agent stuck in the body of "a…um…decidedly fat old fluffy cat." It's an action comedy that turns serious in the fights. Jae-Ho Son wrote it and Hye-Jin Kim (ZHENA) draws it; Episode 407 went up on October 12, 2026. The catch is the app gap: 10 newer episodes are app-only.

6. The God of High School
Status: COMPLETED on WEBTOON, 569 chapters on AniList.
Mori Jin is "a high school student and Taekwondo specialist" who enters a tournament "that promises the winner anything they want," and it "soon reveals itself to be part of a much greater plot." Yong-Je Park wrote and drew it from April 8, 2011 to October 13, 2022, per AniList. WEBTOON shows 799.2M views. Read it for the tournament at full scale; MAPPA's 13-episode anime from 2020 is the short version.

A "reclusive high school student" leaves home after a family tragedy and walks into "a reality where monsters are trying to wipe out humanity." Carnby Kim wrote it and Yeong-Chan Hwang drew it, and AniList lists the last chapter on July 2, 2020. This is the pick that uses the scroll best for dread: the format lets a reveal sit just below the screen until you pull it up. WEBTOON's page notes it's "Now a major adaptation on streaming."

8. Tower of God

Status: Between seasons. The latest episode is "[Season 3] Ep. 235 (Season 3 Finale)," from February 23, 2025, number 652 overall.
SIU's series opens with "What do you desire?" and builds the deepest world on this list around it. AniList dates it to June 30, 2010 and still marks it releasing; the page says "Tower of God will be back!" With 1.3B views and 4.2M subscribers, it's the platform's big long-runner. Pick it when you want months of reading and don't mind waiting at the end.

"Daniel is an unattractive loner who wakes up in a different body," and the story is about how differently people treat the same person once he looks different. Tae-Jun Park started it in 2014. 10. Return of the Blossoming Blade
Status: Ongoing, updates every Wednesday.
Cheongmyeong of the Mount Hua Sect dies "striking down Cheonma," then "awakens a hundred years in the future" to find his sect "reduced to a mere shadow of itself." The rest is his push "to restore Mount Hua to its former glory." AniList credits Biga with the original story and LICO with the comic. The newest English episode on October 13 was (S3) Episode 178, from October 6, 2026, with 5 more on the app. It has the smallest audience here (98.9M views), and it's the murim pick most worth the weekly wait.

Start with one finished series and one weekly one. True Beauty or Weak Hero gives you a full story with an ending; Lookism or Return of the Blossoming Blade gives you something new every week. Leave Tower of God until you know you like the format, since its 652 episodes end on a break. We checked 36 facts on October 13, 2026 against WEBTOON's series pages, AniList, Wikipedia, YouTube and r/webtoons, with a quoted line for each in our sources table.
