ChapterBrief · Manhwa
Best completed manhwa: 20 series with real endings, ranked by genre with chapter counts and platforms. Includes 6 that wrapped in 2025 and 2026.

The best completed manhwa does something ongoing series can't: it ends. The difference between reading a finished series and following an ongoing one is the difference between watching a film and subscribing to a service: one commitment you can make fully, one that just keeps asking for more. Ongoing series ask you to trust that the investment will pay off eventually. Completed series already paid it off.
The best completed manhwa in 2026 covers 20 series across action, thriller, horror, romance, and martial arts. Every entry on this list has an actual ending you can reach. Platforms and chapter counts are noted throughout, because "where do I find this" and "how long will this take" are the two questions that actually decide what someone reads next.
TL;DR: 20 completed manhwa you can binge without waiting. Best action: Solo Leveling (179 chapters, Tappytoon), Weak Hero Part 1 (109 chapters, WEBTOON). Best thriller: Bastard (92 chapters, WEBTOON). Best romance: Cheese in the Trap, True Beauty, Girls of the Wild's (all free on WEBTOON). All have real endings.
This list covers 20 completed manhwa across action, thriller, horror, romance, and martial arts. "Completed" here means the series has an official ending: the final chapter has been published, the story concludes, and there is no ongoing wait. Series on hiatus are excluded unless noted explicitly; Tower of God is the one exception, included in a separate category because all 652+ published episodes are readable now even though the story is not fully concluded.
The list is organized by genre because completion status alone does not tell you what you are walking into. A completed 569-chapter action epic (The God of High School) and a completed 99-chapter psychological thriller (Bastard) both qualify, but they serve completely different reading purposes. Genre grouping lets you find the right entry by what you want to read, not just by what is finished.
Chapter counts are based on the main story run. Side stories and bonus chapters are noted separately where they affect the experience. Platforms listed are the primary English-language legal source for each series. Every title on this list is available through official channels.
Every series below has a real ending. Use this table to sort by what matters to you: chapter count (how long it takes) and platform (where to read it). Full write-ups follow, organized by genre.

Note: SSS-Class Suicide Hunter and Tower of God are covered in separate sections below as readable-but-ongoing exceptions, not completed series.
Solo Leveling cover art.
Chapters: 200 (179 main + 21 side stories) | Platform: Tappytoon, Yen Press | Completed: December 2021
The genre benchmark. Sung Jin-Woo starts as the weakest dungeon hunter and climbs through a system no other hunter can see. DUBU's artwork is among the best the format has produced. The fight choreography, shadow aesthetics, and system UI design all hold up against any action comic in the world. The dungeon arcs (especially chapters 98-120, the Ant Island arc) are the series at its peak.
Read all 200 chapters. The side stories (chapters 180-200) are the actual ending, not extras. Stopping at chapter 179 leaves the story unresolved.
Two anime seasons are on Crunchyroll (A-1 Pictures, 2024-2025). For the chapter-to-anime mapping and where to pick up after Season 2, the Solo Leveling reading order guide covers the full breakdown.
The God of High School cover art.
Chapters: 569 | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: 2024
Park Yongje's tournament arc expanded over thirteen years into mythology and national-level combat. The fights are the draw: some of the best animated sequences in the format. MAPPA adapted it in 2020 (13 episodes, Crunchyroll). The final arc runs long and divides readers, but chapters 1-400 include some of the best martial arts action manhwa has produced.

Chapters: 543 | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: December 2019
Cadis Etrama Di Raizel (Rai) wakes from an 820-year sleep to find himself enrolled in a Korean high school, unaware of what the modern world is. The setup sounds comedic; the execution runs supernatural action across more than 500 chapters with consistent world-building. A 2020 anime adaptation (13 episodes, Production IG, Crunchyroll) covers the early arcs.
One of the few long-running action manhwa that actually ended. Free on WEBTOON.
Weak Hero cover art.
Chapters: 109 (Part 1 complete, Part 2 ongoing) | Platform: WEBTOON | Status: Part 1 finished
Gray Yeon is small, quiet, and methodical about violence. When other students target him for being an easy mark, he applies physics instead of strength. Part 1 is a complete story at 109 chapters, with no ongoing commitment required and no unfinished threads. Part 2 shifts focus and is still running; it reads separately.
This is the best test case for the manhwa format: short enough to finish in two or three sessions, representative of what vertical scroll action does well, and complete.
For the full chapter-by-chapter breakdown and how Part 2 fits, see the Weak Hero reading guide. For a full series assessment across all 268 chapters: Weak Hero review.
Chapters: 154 (through S4) | Platform: WEBTOON / Tapas (as SSS-Class Revival Hunter) | Status: Ongoing, season break mid-2026
Kim Gong-ja's power: die to copy the ability of whoever killed him, then wake up 24 hours earlier with that skill. The mechanic means every ability he holds came from dying to something that could kill him. Season 4 ended at chapter 151 and the series went on a scheduled break. It is not completed; the story continues when the next season begins. It is included here because the season structure gives it a functional stopping point, unlike most ongoing series where stopping mid-arc is jarring. No anime adaptation has been announced.

Best Action Manhwa 2026 →
Solo Leveling by Chugong and DUBU, the most-read completed action manhwa and a natural entry point for the genre.
Chapters: 92 | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: 2016
Seon Jin is the son of a serial killer and is complicit in hiding his father's crimes, until a new girl transfers to his school and becomes the next target. Bastard is 92 chapters of psychological pressure, structured so tightly that cutting a single chapter would break something. The ending earns what the setup built.
Free on WEBTOON. This is the series I recommend to anyone who wants to understand what the format can do beyond wish-fulfillment.
Chapters: 140 | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: 2020
Cha Hyun-soo is isolated, depressed, and living alone when the residents of his apartment building begin transforming into monsters. Season 1 runs 140 chapters and tells a complete story. Netflix adapted it in 2019 and went on to produce additional seasons, but the Season 1 manhwa functions as its own contained narrative.
The horror is visceral. The character work is better than most action manhwa. The ending resolves. Seasons 2 and 3 exist but aren't required. Free on WEBTOON.
Episodes: 388 | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: 2021
Dongtae is a bullied high school student who receives a die that lets him roll for stat upgrades. The system fantasy premise plays out across eight years of serialization as the dice proliferate and the power gap between players becomes increasingly dangerous. Completed in 2021 at 388 episodes with an actual resolution. One of the few system-fantasy manhwa that finished before Solo Leveling popularized the template.
Free on WEBTOON. For readers who want to continue in the system-fantasy genre with a completed mechanic twist on the formula, the SSS-Class Suicide Hunter reading guide covers how its death-copy mechanic inverts the standard power progression structure. It is completed, and mechanically unlike anything else in the genre. SSS-Class Suicide Hunter review

Best Manhwa to Read in 2026 →
Romance is where the format's range shows up most clearly. Korean romance webtoons had large readerships years before action manhwa broke internationally, and several of the completed series are among the most-read stories in WEBTOON's history.
Completed romance manhwa also solve the specific problem of the love triangle's unresolved endpoint, a genre trope that only becomes meaningful when the series actually commits to an answer. Ongoing romance series can sustain indefinite ambiguity; completed ones have to decide. The five series below all have endings that address what they spent chapters building, which is a rarer quality in romance manhwa than it sounds.
True Beauty cover art.
Chapters: 117 episodes | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: 2023
Jugyeong Lim uses makeup skills to transform her appearance and maintain two identities at school. What starts as a straightforward beauty-fantasy premise builds into a 117-episode series with a surprisingly developed emotional arc. True Beauty completed in 2023 after years of serialization. Free on WEBTOON, with a completed K-drama adaptation for readers who want a preview. True Beauty review | True Beauty reading guide
Cheese in the Trap cover art.
Chapters: ~300 | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: 2017
Hong Seol is a diligent university student whose relationship with Yoo Jung (charismatic, well-regarded, and increasingly difficult to read) unfolds across a long run of college life and social observation. Cheese in the Trap is less a romance than a psychological study of the way people perform normalcy under pressure. Completed in 2017 after six years.
For readers who find most romance manhwa too clean, this is the series to read. Free on WEBTOON.
Chapters: ~330 | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: 2016
Song Jaegu is the first male student admitted to a prestigious girls' fighting academy. On paper, a lightweight premise. What actually unfolds is hundreds of chapters of serious tournament fighting and character work. Completed, free, and one of the earlier WEBTOON series that proved the platform could sustain long-form storytelling.
Lookism cover art.
Park Tae-Joon's series about a student who can switch between an unattractive and an attractive body is technically ongoing (600+ chapters), but Part 1 tells a complete story around the protagonist's identity crisis and school arc before the series pivots to underground fighting organizations. The Lookism reading guide covers where Part 1 ends and what to expect from the expanded later arcs. For a full series take: Lookism review. A Netflix anime adaptation (Studio Mir, 2022) covers Part 1. Free on WEBTOON.
Chapters: 290+ | Platform: WEBTOON | Completed: 2023
Shin-Ae Yoo is sharp, self-protective, and resistant to most of the warmth other people offer her, for reasons the series takes its time explaining. I Love Yoo ran for years and completed in 2023 after delays and hiatuses, but the story reached its ending. For readers who like romance with actual psychological texture rather than drama-as-obstacle, this is the recommendation.
Chapters: 232 | Platform: WEBTOON | Completed: 2023
Sam Young is a game developer whose game gets publicly savaged by a review from her neighbor Marshall Law, who turns out to be the most-subscribed game streamer in the country. Let's Play runs the slice-of-life romance formula with enough game-industry specificity to feel grounded. Completed in 2023. Free on WEBTOON.
Three completed BL romance manhwa have the most readership and the clearest critical consensus: Painter of the Night (133 chapters on Lezhin, 18+, dark romance), Semantic Error (80 chapters on WEBTOON, all-ages, slow-burn campus romance), and Blood Bank (61 chapters on Lezhin, 18+, power-dynamic thriller). All three are finished with full endings. Painter of the Night review | Painter of the Night reading guide | Semantic Error review | Semantic Error reading guide | Blood Bank review | Blood Bank reading guide. Full guide: Best BL Manhwa 2026.
Platform: Various | Completed: Both series completed
The Breaker follows Shi-Woon Yi, a bullied student who becomes the disciple of a Nine Arts Dragon, a top-ranked murim martial artist. The original series (60+ chapters) completed its first arc, and The Breaker: New Waves continued for another 201 chapters before concluding. Both are finished. The Eternal Force sequel launched later and is ongoing, but the original two-part run stands alone.
For readers who want murim done with serious craft and completed arcs rather than ongoing power scaling.
Return of the Blossoming Blade (ongoing, Season 3 active April 2026, 160+ episodes total) is also worth noting here. It's a short murim revenge series that tells a complete story in the time most series spend on setup. The Return of the Blossoming Blade reading guide covers the arc breakdown and reading order.
The Breaker's approach to power progression is different from the cultivation manhwa that followed it. Shi-Woon starts genuinely powerless and learns through a master-student relationship rather than through a system interface. The series is the closest Korean equivalent to a Hong Kong martial arts film in structure: the craft, the lineage of styles, and the cost of mastery are all present. The Breaker: New Waves escalates the scale and introduces faction-level conflict. Both arcs completed. Both are worth reading.
Who Made Me a Princess by plutus, among the most recommended completed romance manhwa.
Tower of God doesn't fit the "completed" category. SIU's series concluded Season 3 on February 23, 2025, and entered hiatus. No Season 4 date has been announced. But all 652+ episodes are published and readable on WEBTOON right now, for free.
The reason it belongs in this list: reading it today means reaching a real stopping point at Season 3's end. It's not a mid-arc cut. You won't land on a chapter that was posted yesterday and have nowhere to go. If you want the most complete Tower of God experience available right now, start reading. Season 3's ending is a real stopping point, not a cliff-hanger into a chapter that dropped last Tuesday.
The Tower of God reading guide covers the platform navigation, the Season 2 Episode 0 entry point issue, and what the hiatus means practically.
The newest completed series have the shortest recommendation queues and the freshest community discussion. These are the series that finished their run in 2025 or 2026:
Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint Season 1 (311 chapters, WEBTOON, completed May 2026): Nine years of serialization reached its first full arc. Kim Dokja knows the apocalypse scenario around him because he read the novel it is based on. Season 2 not yet running, so reading now means a finished story with no wait. Free on WEBTOON. Full review →
The Greatest Estate Developer (222 chapters, Kakao, completed January 2026): Louis Castelon reincarnates into a doomed noble house and uses modern civil engineering knowledge to rebuild it from ruin. Completed in 222 chapters with a full resolution. One of the few isekai manhwa where the protagonist's advantage is practical infrastructure knowledge rather than combat power.
Nano Machine (~325 chapters, Naver, completed 2025): Cheon Yeo-Woon receives a nano machine from a descendant in the future and uses it to rise through the murim world's sect hierarchy. The longest completed murim series with a stable ending on this list. Readers who want traditional cultivation mechanics without an ongoing wait should start here.
Weak Hero (268 chapters, WEBTOON, completed 2025): Covered in detail above under completed action manhwa. Gray Yeon's full run across both parts is now done. 268 chapters, free on WEBTOON, school-fighting that escalates to organized crime.
Wind Breaker (cancelled 2025, ~200+ chapters, WEBTOON): The cycling-gang street racing series ended its run in 2025. Not a planned conclusion, but the published chapters form a readable arc. Worth noting for readers who want something off the standard recommendation list. A Netflix anime adaptation exists for context on the early story.
The Remarried Empress (247 chapters, Kakao, completed January 2026): Political romance where the empress out-maneuvers the emperor who discards her. The most recommended political manhwa that completed in this window. Detailed description in the section below.
Series that finished in the last two years are the hidden value on any completed manhwa list: less crowded in recommendations, easier to find legal translations for, and the endings are still fresh enough that community discussion is active.
The Remarried Empress cover art.
Chapters: 247 | Platform: Kakao, Naver | Completed: January 2026
Navier Elisha Trovi, the empress, is replaced by her emperor husband with a concubine from another nation. She doesn't collapse. She remarries the king of an adjacent empire and rebuilds from a stronger position. The political maneuvering across 247 chapters is detailed and consistent; the series never uses a convenient character failure to accelerate Navier's arc. One of the few political romance manhwa where the protagonist's intelligence is the actual plot engine rather than a label the story abandons when it needs her to be vulnerable.
Completed January 2026. No ongoing commitment. The full political arc resolves.
A Returner's Magic Should Be Special cover art.
Chapters: 268 | Platform: Tappytoon, Kakao | Completed: June 2024
Desir Arman survives the Shadow World's final dungeon with three companions. Sent back thirteen years to his academy days with full knowledge of the world's eventual collapse, he uses that knowledge not just to win fights he lost before but to restructure the social systems that produced the failure conditions in the first place. 268 chapters, completed June 2024. A Season 2 anime adaptation aired on Crunchyroll in 2026 for readers who want a preview before the full run. A Returner's Magic review → | Reading guide (arc breakdown) →
Surviving Romance cover art.
Chapters: 100 | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: 2023
A woman who transmigrated into a romance novel discovers the apocalyptic zombie event from chapter one is happening earlier than the original plot specified, and the other characters are acting outside their scripted roles. Surviving Romance is 100 chapters of compressed narrative where every chapter moves. The genre-awareness (protagonist knows she's in a novel) is a structural tool, not just a meta-joke. Free on WEBTOON, completed, the shortest entry on this list.
For readers who want something short, finished, and structurally interesting: start here before committing to anything longer.
Weak Hero cover art.
Chapters: 268 | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: 2025
Gray Yeon transfers to Eunjang High, a school defined by organized violence and rigid hierarchy. He is visibly slight, academically focused, and within the first chapter, dismantles someone twice his size using force-vector targeting rather than physical strength. Weak Hero is a fighting series that treats its fights as physics problems. Over 268 chapters, the scale shifts from individual school violence to organized criminal enterprises, and Gray's method (exploiting the gap between how you look and what you can do) gets tested against systems rather than individuals. Part 1 (chapters 1-109) works as a self-contained story with a real ending. The full 268-chapter run is the complete work. Free on WEBTOON.
Painter of the Night cover art.
Chapters: 133 | Platform: Lezhin Comics | Completed: 2025
Historical setting, adult content, Lezhin paywall. Seungho Yoon, a nobleman with a dark reputation, takes on Nakyum, a young painter who specializes in erotic artwork, as a live-in artist. The series uses historical Korean social stratification as the backdrop for a psychologically complex relationship across three seasons. It's not a comfort read. Painter of the Night is interested in power, damage, and what prolonged exposure to both does to the people inside them. 133 chapters across three seasons, fully serialized and complete. The art style is distinctive enough that fans routinely cite it as one of the format's best.
Semantic Error cover art.
Chapters: 96 | Platform: KakaoPage, MangaToon | Completed: 2022
Computer science student Chu Sangwoo is meticulous, rule-following, and unwilling to let a group project free-rider slide. His decision to drop Jang Jaeyoung from the project's credits sets off a rivalry that eventually becomes something else. Semantic Error is short, complete, and one of the most recommended BL entry points in manhwa. It's the series that moved readers from K-drama BL into the format, and it earned it. 96 chapters, finished. A 4-episode live-action adaptation (Watcha, 2022) exists for readers who want a preview of the premise. The Semantic Error review covers the full run.
Chapters: 311 | Platform: WEBTOON (free) | Completed: May 2026
Kim Dokja read the web novel "Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World" for ten years. When the novel's apocalypse scenario begins happening around him, he is the only person alive who knows how the story ends and who dies along the way. Season 1 ran 311 chapters and completed May 2026 after nine years of serialization. Season 2 is announced but not yet running, so reading now means reaching a real ending. The art by Sleepy-C is among the best the format has produced. Free on WEBTOON, no subscription.
Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint review | Reading guide
Most of the series on this list are free on WEBTOON (webtoons.com), no subscription required. The God of High School, Noblesse, Bastard, True Beauty, Sweet Home, Girls of the Wild's, Cheese in the Trap, Dice, Weak Hero, and Tower of God are all there at no cost.
Solo Leveling is the exception: the most current official English translation is on Tappytoon (digital) or Yen Press (print). Tapas also hosts official chapters but has sometimes lagged.
For the full platform breakdown and legality notes on each option, see where to read manhwa legally in 2026.
WEBTOON hosts more completed manhwa than any other single platform, and all of them are free with no subscription required. Here is every completed series from this list that you can start reading today at zero cost:
Action and adventure (all free on WEBTOON):
Thriller and horror (all free on WEBTOON):
Romance (all free on WEBTOON):
Ongoing but readable now (WEBTOON):
The only significant series on this list NOT free on WEBTOON is Solo Leveling (Tappytoon or Yen Press), and most of the BL series (Painter of the Night and Blood Bank require Lezhin; Semantic Error is on KakaoPage).
If budget is the constraint: start with Bastard, Weak Hero, or The God of High School. All free, all with actual endings.
You've never read manhwa: Start with Bastard (92 chapters, psychological thriller) or Weak Hero Part 1 (109 chapters, school fighting). Both are short enough to finish in a weekend and tell complete stories. If you want action immediately: Solo Leveling.
You read manga and want the closest equivalent: The God of High School for tournament action, The Breaker for martial arts, Noblesse for supernatural wish-fulfillment. All three are completed.
You're coming from K-dramas: True Beauty has a completed webtoon and a completed drama. Cheese in the Trap ran before the drama adaptation. Either works as an entry point.
You want something long and finished: The God of High School at 569 chapters is the answer. Noblesse at 543 episodes is second. Both are free.
You want the shortest possible test of the format: Bastard at 92 chapters. A real ending, no prior manhwa knowledge required.
You finished Solo Leveling and want more completed series in that register: Noblesse is the closest match in tone and length. Dice is the completed system-fantasy alternative at 388 episodes. The God of High School is the choice if the fight choreography was the main draw. None of them replicate what Solo Leveling does exactly, but they're the best-finished alternatives for readers looking to stay in that genre without committing to an ongoing series.
One note on reading order: most completed manhwa don't require reading anything else first. Each entry on this list is self-contained. The exception is The Breaker / The Breaker: New Waves, where reading them in order matters because New Waves is a direct continuation. Everything else here works as a standalone starting point.
What is the best completed manhwa to start with? Solo Leveling is the most common entry point for action readers: 179 chapters (plus 21 side-story chapters), finished, and the series that shaped genre expectations. For something shorter, Bastard at 92 chapters is a complete psychological thriller that doesn't require genre familiarity.
What completed manhwa has the best art? Solo Leveling by consensus. DUBU's illustration is among the format's best. For romance, True Beauty and Cheese in the Trap both have strong visual storytelling.
Are there completed manhwa for readers new to the format? Bastard and Weak Hero Part 1 are both short enough to test before committing. Solo Leveling is the standard action entry point. For romance, True Beauty is the easiest start.
What is the longest completed manhwa on this list? The God of High School at 569 chapters. Noblesse at 543 episodes is second. Tower of God has 652+ episodes but is on hiatus rather than completed.
Where can I read completed manhwa for free? WEBTOON hosts most of this list: The God of High School, Noblesse, Bastard, True Beauty, Sweet Home, Dice, Girls of the Wild's, Cheese in the Trap, Weak Hero, Tower of God. All free, no subscription.
What completed manhwa have anime adaptations? The God of High School (MAPPA, 2020, Crunchyroll), Noblesse (Production IG, 2020, Crunchyroll), Solo Leveling (A-1 Pictures, 2024-2025, Crunchyroll). Sweet Home has a Netflix live-action series.
Is Tower of God completed? No. It's on hiatus after Season 3 concluded February 23, 2025. All published content is readable but the story is not closed. It's included here because reading it now gives a real stopping point, unlike a series that ends mid-arc.
What completed manhwa have the best stories? Bastard is the most structurally tight at 92 chapters. Cheese in the Trap built a complex portrait of relationships over years. Sweet Home Season 1 works as a complete horror allegory. Weak Hero Part 1 does character work most action manhwa skip.
