The best manhwa fantasy for most readers is still Solo Leveling. It's finished, it's fast, and it's the series that made the system-and-dungeon kind of fantasy famous. But "fantasy manhwa" covers four different kinds of story: being reborn into another world, levelling up through dungeons, martial-arts cultivation (murim), and dark fantasy that slides into horror. Readers who love one often bounce off another, so the list below is sorted by kind, with two or three picks each and where to read them in English.

System and dungeon fantasy
The kind Solo Leveling made famous: a game-like interface with stat windows and level-ups, in a world where dungeons or gates are the battlefield.
1. Solo Leveling

The benchmark, and our first pick. Tapas introduces Sung Jinwoo as "a humble E-rank, the weakest of the weak," and Tappytoon's summary adds the hook: "a mysterious System chooses him as its sole player." From there it's a straight climb, and the pacing rarely sags. The Korean run ended with chapter 179 in December 2021, and a side story by a new art team followed in 2023. Read it; it's the rest of the ending.

2. Dungeon Reset

Finished: 266 chapters (ended September 2025) · Tappytoon
Pick this one if you'd rather build than fight. Tappytoon's setup: Dawoon is summoned into the Dungeon as "a mere crafter with zero combat abilities," falls into a trap, and survives "a glitched reset" with random skills. What follows is a survival story where the fun is in what he builds, from traps to a whole base.
Caveat: Readers say the middle drags. In an October 2026 r/manhwa review, one reader wrote that they "genuinely enjoyed watching Dawoon figure things out, make stuff, build his little base," but that "somewhere around chapter 50+ … it just started feeling… boring?"
3. Overgeared

A VR game with an economy. Tapas sums it up: Shin Youngwoo, "an unlucky man in life and a low-level player" in the VR game Satisfy, earns the legendary class "Pagma's Successor" and becomes "a skilled blacksmith who can forge unique weapons." Because the best gear in the game comes out of his forge, the story is as much about deals and rivalries as fights. The anime, by J.C.Staff, premiered in Japan on October 2, 2026, and Crunchyroll streams it. Our Overgeared reading guide covers where to start.
Caveat: He starts out petty and greedy on purpose, and it takes a while before he grows up.
Reincarnation and transmigration
The hero lands in another world, or another person's body, with memories of a past life.
4. The Beginning After the End
Ongoing: 300 Tapas episodes, Thursdays · Tapas
The best pick for a whole new world built up over years of story. In Tapas's words: "King Grey has unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability," then is "reincarnated into a new world filled with magic and monsters." The opening arcs spend a long time on his childhood, and that pays off later. The comic returned with its seventh season in March 2026, and the novel it adapts is finished. Two anime seasons are out: season 1 in spring 2025 and season 2 in spring 2026, both on Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll's season 2 trailer:

5. Lout of Count's Family (Trash of the Count's Family)

On hiatus after season 4 · Tappytoon, Tapas (as Lout of Count's Family)
The comedy pick. Tappytoon's summary: Kim Roksu has one life motto, "Let's not get beat up," then wakes up as Cale Henituse, "one of the minor villains in the novel who gets the beating of a lifetime from soon-to-be hero Choi Han." His plan to stay out of the story keeps failing because he's too useful. If you search for it in English, use the official title, Lout of Count's Family.
Caveat: Tapas posted on May 29, 2026 that season 4 "has come to a close" and the comic is on a break before season 5. For similar reads, see manhwa like Trash of the Count's Family.
Murim (martial-arts cultivation)
Sects, clans and internal energy, set in a fictional martial-arts world. The setting takes a few dozen chapters to learn, and the politics pay off later.
6. Legend of the Northern Blade

The murim pick with an ending. Tappytoon's setup: the Northern Heavenly Sect fought the Silent Night for decades, until its fourth-generation leader is accused of colluding with the enemy and "forced to disband the sect and commit suicide to protect his son, Moowon." Moowon's long road from a watched, friendless boy to rebuilding the sect is the whole story. There's no game interface at all. The Legend of the Northern Blade review and reading guide go deeper.
Caveat: The start is slow and grim on purpose.
7. Nano Machine

Ongoing · WEBTOON, up every Wednesday
The bridge between system fantasy and murim. WEBTOON's blurb: "Nanotechnology meets martial arts at the Mashin Academy." Yeo-un is a child of the cult's High Priest by a mother who isn't one of his six official wives, so he starts as an outsider in a fight for succession against "his powerful half-siblings," until "a mysterious nanomachine injection from a future descendent" changes the odds. Caveat: WEBTOON's website shows only the first five episodes and points readers to the app for the rest.
Dark fantasy and the long climb
8. Sweet Home

Fantasy that turns into horror. WEBTOON's summary: after a family tragedy, a reclusive high schooler leaves home "only to face something much scarier: a reality where monsters are trying to wipe out humanity." No levelling, no system, just a building full of people trying to survive. WEBTOON calls it "Now a major adaptation on streaming." Our Sweet Home review has the verdict.
Caveat: WEBTOON's website lists only the first 14 episodes, with the rest in the app.
9. Tower of God

On hiatus: last episode February 23, 2025 (#652 on WEBTOON) · WEBTOON
The biggest world on the list, and the most demanding. Bam enters the Tower to follow the one person he knows, and the story grows into a war over who controls the Tower. WEBTOON's last entry is the Season 3 finale, posted February 23, 2025, with the note "Tower of God will be back!" The anime's second season ran July to December 2024 on Crunchyroll. Caveat: You'll catch up and then wait. In r/TowerofGod, one reader put it plainly: "I'm honestly getting tired of waiting for Season 4."
Our take
If you're new, start with Solo Leveling and see which part hooked you. If it was the levelling, Dungeon Reset or Overgeared come next. If it was the world, The Beginning After the End. If you want something finished with no game layer, Legend of the Northern Blade is the best ending on this list. Sweet Home is for when you want fantasy to scare you. Tower of God is the best world-building here, but it's on hiatus, so it can wait until season 4 is announced.
