Manhwa Like Tomb Raider King: 6 Picks After 411 Chapters

For manhwa like Tomb Raider King, start with The Return of the Disaster-Class Hero. It comes from the same original writer and the same studio, it's still running every week, and it's the series Tomb Raider King readers keep pointing to. After that, pick by what kept you reading: the relics (Mythic Item Obtained, Overgeared), hunters in modern Korea (Solo Leveling), a hero who already knows the script (Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint) or dying your way to power (SSS-Class Revival Hunter).

Picking manhwa like Tomb Raider King: relics or revenge

The setup, in WEBTOON's words: Jooheon Suh is "betrayed by his employer" and about to die "at the hands of a powerful new relic" when he finds himself "15 years in the past, before any relics or tombs made their debut." The Korean original, 도굴왕 (Dogul Wang), finished in March 2023; fans shorten the English title to TRK. AniList counts 411 chapters, and Tapas splits the same run into one more episode.

Ask readers what worked and the answer is the relics. "The relics are based on real history, mythology, and folklore, so every new one is fun to discover," one r/manhwa reader wrote, in the same comment that called the series "repetitive slop." The usual complaint is the other side of that coin. By the end, another reader said, "you start asking yourself what the point of him gaining 1000 new relics every few chapters is when he just uses the same 10 he recieved in the first 40 chapters."

So the picks split two ways: series that keep the item hunt fresh, and series that keep the revenge-and-foreknowledge engine but give it a different shape.

1. The Return of the Disaster-Class Hero: same writer, same studio

WEBTOON's credits put both series under the same original writer, SAN.G (Sanjijiksong on AniList), and both adaptations come out of REDICE STUDIO. The setup will feel familiar: "the thirteenth saint Lee Geon was trapped inside the Tower of Demons after being backstabbed by twelve of his allies." Twenty years later he's out, "back stronger than ever," and owed payback by every one of them. It isn't a regression story. Geon comes back stronger, not younger, so the fun is watching him collect debts rather than predict the future.

Tomb Raider King readers link the two without being asked. "You will like this even more if you read Return of Disaster-Class Hero," one wrote in a thread asking whether Tomb Raider King is worth it, and when a reader who'd just finished it asked for more, one reply was "The return of the disaster class hero is really good too." 2. Mythic Item Obtained: one item, a whole career

WEBTOON's pitch: in a world where "monsters and creatures of myth and legend reign terror upon mankind," Jaehyeon is "a feeble Awakened human Raider" until "a series of confounding events allow him to claim a powerful item that will change the course of history forever." The Korean title is 신화급 귀속 아이템을 손에 넣었다.

It's the name readers hand to Tomb Raider King fans who want more artifacts. In a thread hunting for TRK's mythology theme elsewhere, one reply was just "Mythic Item Obtained." When someone who'd finished Tomb Raider King asked for something similar, another reader said, "U could try out I obtained a mythic item, it's a pretty good read and def one of the personal favourites." Where it differs: Jaehyeon starts weak and stays in his own timeline, so there's no future to cheat from. It's ongoing, with a new episode every Thursday on WEBTOON.

3. Overgeared: when the gear is the whole power system

Grid's story runs on the same thrill as a new relic. A low-level player in the VR game Satisfy, he "finds a powerful item that earns him a rare legendary class title: 'Pagma's Successor,'" and becomes "a skilled blacksmith who can forge unique weapons." WEBTOON credits the adaptation to Monohumbug of Redice Studio, so the studio overlap continues here too.

When someone for whom Tomb Raider King didn't click asked for series "with the main focus being items/artifacts," one of the answers was simply "Overgeared." The difference is where the power comes from: Grid makes his gear instead of digging it up, and it all happens inside a game, not in modern Korea. 4. Solo Leveling: the comparison everyone makes

Every Tomb Raider King thread gets to Solo Leveling eventually. One reader, about 200 chapters in, called TRK "different from solo leveling but also has this familiarity of it." AniList's summary sets it up: Seong Jin-U, "the weakest hunter of all mankind," survives a dungeon that wipes out his party, and "a mysterious System chooses him as its sole player."

There's no regression and no relic hunt; it's one hunter and one system, climbing. It's also finished and much shorter: AniList counts 201 chapters, 22 of them extras, about half of Tomb Raider King. In English it's on Tapas, Tappytoon and Manta, with print from Yen Press. The Tapas copy won't last, since Tapas ends service on March 31, 2027. Our Solo Leveling review has the rating.

5. Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint: the hero who already knows the story

Jooheon's edge is fifteen years of the future; Dokja's is a web novel. In WEBTOON's blurb, he "was an average office worker whose sole interest was reading his favorite web novel," and when it "suddenly becomes reality, he is the only person who knows how the world will end." In the same mythology-theme thread, one reader's suggestion was "Omniscient readers viewpoint."

Of the six, it leans hardest on story and least on loot. WEBTOON currently lists it as on hiatus, so there's no weekly wait to fall behind on while you catch up. Our Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint review has our full take.

6. SSS-Class Revival Hunter: dying as a strategy

Confucius Kim gets "a legendary skill to copy others' abilities… at the cost of his life." He's then "killed by the #1 hunter, the Flame Emperor," which copies a new skill: "the ability to travel back in time upon death." It's the loop version of Jooheon's second chance, and each death hands him whatever his killer could do.

The link to Tomb Raider King comes from readers, too. One r/manhwa poster who'd just finished SSS-Grade Saint Knight, SSS-Class Suicide Hunter and Tomb Raider King said "they all have good story but suicide hunter is the best of the tree." Check the status first: Tapas says Season 4 has closed and the series is on hiatus before Season 5. Its only English web edition is on Tapas, with print from Yen Press. Our take

Start with The Return of the Disaster-Class Hero. It shares Tomb Raider King's writer and studio, it's still running, and it doesn't ask you to sit through another regression setup. If the relics were what you loved and the revenge loop is what wore you out, go to Mythic Item Obtained next; Overgeared is the one to pick if you'd rather watch a hero build his gear than steal it. How we checked this

For this update we checked Tomb Raider King's WEBTOON and Tapas pages, AniList's entries for the manhwa, its sequel and the anime, the WEBTOON, Tapas and AniList pages for all six picks, Crunchyroll's trailer, and six r/manhwa threads. We haven't reread these series for this update; the comparisons come from the publishers' blurbs and from those readers. This update replaced a list slot that pointed to one of our own pages with a real series, fixed The Return of the Disaster-Class Hero's premise (it's a revenge story, not a regression), corrected Solo Leveling's length, made Tomb Raider King's count match its sources, swapped an anime end date we couldn't source for AniList's, and removed the TL;DR, FAQ and GODEEPER boxes. Second Life Ranker and The Greatest Estate Developer made way for series that Tomb Raider King readers named in those threads.
