It's complete, it's on three official platforms, and the slow thaw between a doomed princess and her father is the template half this list borrows. Completed at 135 chapters (finished December 12, 2025). Tappytoon and Tapas have it complete; WEBTOON is re-running it weekly, with Episode 34 up October 7, 2026. Seven Seas prints it, volume 9 out March 18, 2025.

Athanasia wakes up as a princess her own father, the cold-blooded emperor Claude, kills in the original novel. Her options: run, or make him love her before the death flag hits. The slow change in Claude is the whole payoff, and it's earned. Readers who have tried both this and Daughter of the Emperor often side with it: "I've read both from start to finish, and I have to say WMMAP had a much more cohesive storyline and satisfying ending" (r/OtomeIsekai).

Read it if you want family stakes first and romance later. Skip it if you need the romance on page one; it's secondary for most of the run.

Tapas, 226 episodes. The main story is done; Tapas is on a break before special episodes.

A gamer gets pulled into a dating sim as Penelope Eckhart, the hated villainess, on hard mode. Every love interest has an affection meter, and the game seems built to kill her. Penelope has no warmth to deploy, so she survives by reading rooms and managing numbers. The tone is darker than anything else in this section.

Read it if you want a prickly heroine who never gets nicer to be liked. Skip it if you dislike game interfaces in romance.

3. Beware the Villainess!

The funniest villainess story. A comedy first.

Tapas, completed at 149 episodes (144 chapters in Korea).

A college student wakes up as Melissa Foddebrat, the villainess, and is unimpressed by every male lead the novel was built around. She'd rather fix the badly written power structure. The genre jokes land; the romance arrives late.

Read it if earnest villainess stories have worn you out. Skip it if you want the romance to carry the story.

4. The Villainess Turns the Hourglass

Aria Roscent bullied her stepsister Mielle and paid for it with her life, then learned Mielle had set her up. A strange hourglass sends her back, and this time she plays the villain on purpose. There's no transported modern heroine; Aria is replaying her own life, which makes the scheming sharper.

Read it if you want revenge planning and social climbing. Skip it if you want a kind heroine.

5. The Reason Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion

The best fake-engagement romance.

Tapas, completed at 158 episodes. A 12-episode TV anime aired in spring 2023.

Eunha Park is pushed off a roof and wakes as Raeliana, a novel character whose murder starts the plot. To survive, she offers Duke Noah a deal: he protects her as his fake fiancée, she gives him information. It plays like a chess match where neither side drops their guard.

Read it if you want a scheming, businesslike heroine. Skip it if you want the leads to fall fast.

6. Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp

The warmest reincarnation romance, with a job.

Tappytoon, completed (156 chapters on AniList; Tappytoon lists Episodes 1 to 143 plus a separate sequel).

Master surgeon Jihyun's plane crashes and she wakes in her first life as Elise, the spoiled girl who caused her own downfall. This time she uses a surgeon's skill to mend old relationships and heal an ailing empire. The drama comes from competence, not court scheming.

Read it if you like a heroine defined by her work. Skip it if you want palace intrigue.

7. Daughter of the Emperor

Tapas, completed at 250 episodes (244 chapters on AniList). Serialization began August 2015, two years before Who Made Me a Princess.

Ariadna is reborn as the daughter of an insane tyrant king who has conquered ten empires, and has to survive him. It's longer and rougher than Princess. Fans still make the case for it: "DotE came first and is one of the OG dad-daughter childcare isekais" (r/OtomeIsekai).

Read it if you finished Princess and want more. Skip it if you're only reading one of the two; read Princess.

Historical and political romance

8. The Remarried Empress

WEBTOON, completed at 247 chapters (ended January 1, 2026).

Empress Navier watches her husband bring home a mistress and ask for a divorce. She accepts and asks permission to remarry, and the series takes off from there. Her power is real and structural; it doesn't evaporate when a new love interest shows up.

Read it if you want romance tied to political stakes. Skip it if you can't sit through Emperor Sovieshu's chapters; his view matters to the payoff.

9. Miss Pendleton

The best new romance of the past two years, and the one we'd start now.

Laura Pendleton, granddaughter of Countess Pendleton, is London's finest matchmaker. Then her self-appointed duties require her to befriend the stoic Mr. Ian Dalton of Whitefield, and the matchmaker finds herself in the contest. It's a London society romance drawn by a Korean team, a change of air from the usual imperial-court setting.

Read it if you like matchmaking plots and slow courtship. Skip it if you want magic, rebirth or a death flag.

10. Under the Oak Tree

Stuttering Lady Maximilian is forced to marry Sir Riftan, who leaves for a campaign after their wedding night. Three years later he comes back a hero, ready to cherish her, and the story is whether she can believe she deserves it. The conflict is trust and communication, not villains.

Read it if you want a devoted male lead and a heroine learning her own worth. Skip it if you won't pay for another subscription; it's Manta-only in English.

11. Your Throne

Lady Medea Solon has lost her place beside Crown Prince Eros and will do anything to win it back, with Psyche on the other side. The series refuses to make either woman the clean heroine, and their rivalry matters more than the romance.

Read it if you want two female leads at war. Skip it if you need someone to root for.

Bianca de Arno was a notorious, selfish wife while her husband, Count Zachary, risked his life at war. On her last day she prays for another chance and wakes at 19. No isekai, no game system: two adults slowly negotiating trust.

Read it if you want restraint and period atmosphere. Skip it if you want fast romance.

WEBTOON, completed at 257 chapters, including a prologue and 33 side stories. tvN adapted it as a drama in 2020-2021.

Ju-gyeong, a shy comic fan, masters makeup from beauty videos and becomes the prettiest girl at her school overnight. The series follows what happens when that face becomes the basis of every relationship. The love triangle doesn't turn the second lead into a villain. Read it if you want a long, comfortable high-school romance. Skip it if you've seen the drama and disliked the triangle.

14. Cheese in the Trap

The best-written romance on this list, and the least comfortable.

WEBTOON, completed. 299 chapters across four seasons; Season 1 began in July 2010.

Hong Seol can't tell whether her perfect senior, Yoo Jung, is kind or quietly dangerous, and the series makes you share that doubt. The question isn't who she picks; it's whether Jung can become the person he pretends to be. No easy answers.

Read it if you want romance as a character study. Skip it if you want a clean, happy ending.

15. I Love Yoo

WEBTOON. Episode 295 went up October 8, 2026. Updates every Friday, with six more episodes in the app.

Shin-Ae has decided she wants nothing to do with people or romance, and she's inconvenient to everyone who tries to change her mind. Quimchee's warmth reaches the side characters too. It's long and unfinished, so treat it as a weekly habit.

Read it if you like guarded heroines and very slow burns. Skip it if you want an ending in sight.

16. Ctrl+Alt+Resign

WEBTOON. Launched August 19, 2025. Season 1 ended with Episode 54 and an afterword on August 18, 2026; WEBTOON says it will return. Updates every Wednesday when running.

Max and Joy sit inches apart at work and have nothing in common. He's a fly on the wall; she's the office social butterfly. Then he sees something on her laptop he wasn't meant to, and he's thrown straight into the tangle of workplace dynamics. It plays as a workplace drama with a crush at the center rather than a broad rom-com.

Read it if you work in an office and want to feel seen. Skip it if a season break puts you off.

17. My ID is Gangnam Beauty

WEBTOON, completed at 84 chapters. JTBC adapted it in 2018.

Mirae starts university after major plastic surgery and is quickly labeled a "Gangnam beauty," pretty but somehow fake. The cruelty is realistic, and the romance is quiet. The later antagonist plot is weaker than the campus character work.

Read it if you want a short, grounded campus romance. Skip it if you want fantasy escapism.

18. A Business Proposal

Tapas, completed at 130 episodes (124 chapters in Korea). SBS adapted it in 2022.

Hari Shin goes on a blind date in her friend's place for a fee, and the man turns out to be her new CEO, who has decided to marry whoever shows up. It knows exactly what it is and ends before it outstays its welcome.

Read it if you want a fast rom-com between heavier reads. Skip it if you want depth.

If you read only two, read Who Made Me a Princess and Cheese in the Trap: one shows how the fantasy side earns its happy ending, the other how the contemporary side refuses one. Then follow Miss Pendleton weekly. Of the new launches, it's the one we'd put on any best romance manhwa 2026 list, and WEBTOON's own numbers (more than twice the subscribers of Ctrl+Alt+Resign) suggest readers agree.
