If you want one manhwa like Overgeared that you can finish, read Dungeon Reset: its hero is "a mere crafter with zero combat abilities," and the series is complete. If it's the VR MMO you miss, The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor is the only pick here set in one, but know going in that its English run has been on hiatus since June 2025.

What Overgeared is really doing
Shin Youngwoo is "an unlucky man in life and a low-level player in the popular VR game 'Satisfy,'" until he finds an item that earns him the legendary class Pagma's Successor. He is "now a skilled blacksmith who can forge unique weapons and equip the game's most powerful gear," and sets out to use it for fame and fortune.
That puts the power in what Grid makes, not in a combat class. The Overgeared webtoon was at 306 Tapas episodes when we checked on October 21, 2026, with nothing new there since September 26, and it adapts a novel that is complete at 2,059 chapters on Wuxiaworld. The anime, Tempal, is animated by J.C.Staff. It began streaming on Prime Video and Crunchyroll on September 27, 2026, a week ahead of the TV broadcast, which started October 2 on Tokyo MX. The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor

Hyun "grinded night-and-day to get a top-tier character," sold it, and lost "every last cent" to loan sharks. In the new VR MMO Royal Road he wants to make it big for his family, and knows "he should absolutely never be one of those weak and poor sculptors." Then he "accidentally becomes the Legendary Moonlight Sculptor."
The match with Overgeared is close: a broke player in a VR game, stuck with a class nobody wants, turning it into a path to the top. Tapas posted on June 11, 2025 that the series "will be entering a hiatus until further notice," so the English run stops at 175 episodes for now, while the Korean webtoon keeps going. Start it if the VR setting is non-negotiable; skip it if you hate hitting a wall with no return date.

Dungeon Reset

Dawoon is summoned into the Dungeon to "play a deadly game," and "he's only a mere crafter with zero combat abilities." After he survives a trap and "a glitched reset, he's gained random but oddly helpful skills," and has to get creative to clear the game and return home.
It is not a VR MMO, and there is no guild economy, but it is the purest crafting-hero story on this list, and our first pick if you want an ending. Tappytoon marks it completed and rates it for readers 16 and older; AniList counts 266 chapters.

"Yoojin is an F-ranker overshadowed by his little brother, an S-ranker." When a raid goes wrong and costs his brother's life, Yoojin uses the wish from clearing the dungeon "to reset his timeline." Then it turns out "he can help other people become S-rankers," his chance at building "his own entourage of powerful metahumans."
The match is a role that looks weak and turns out to matter, the same bet Overgeared makes on a blacksmith class. It is set in a modern hunter world, with no VR game, and it's the pick here with a steady weekly release. The series is also known as The S-Classes That I Raised.

A Returner's Magic Should Be Special

"For 10 years, magical prodigy Desir and his party have been battling inside the mysterious Shadow Labyrinth" against the end of the world. About to be killed, "he's sent back 13 years into the past," and decides to train his friends for what is coming.
The connection to Overgeared is team-building: Desir knows who will matter later and builds his group early, much as Grid gathers strong players around his gear. Lout of Count's Family (Trash of the Count's Family)

Kim Roksu "transmigrated into Birth of a Hero, a fantasy novel," in the body of Cale Henituse, "a minor villain who receives the beating of a lifetime from the main character, Choi Han." He wants a happy, uneventful life, and "the first step to that life is avoiding Choi Han at all costs."
The connection to Overgeared is the gap between what the hero knows and what everyone around him sees. Cale knows where the plot is going; Grid knows what his gear can do. Both make choices that look strange from the outside. Pick it if you liked Grid being underestimated; skip it if you need the game layer.
Status: Tapas lists 173 episodes and posted a notice on May 29, 2026 that Season 4 has closed before Season 5.

No VR game here; this is fantasy reincarnation. What maps to Overgeared is the long build and payoff, so it's for readers who liked how slowly Grid's rise pays off. Tapas posts a new episode every Thursday. The anime's first season (studio A-CAT) aired April 3 to June 19, 2025, and the second ran April 1 to June 24, 2026. SSS-Class Revival Hunter

Confucius Kim gets "a legendary skill to copy others' abilities… at the cost of his life." Killed by the top hunter, the Flame Emperor, he copies "the ability to travel back in time upon death."
If what you liked in Overgeared was setup and payoff, SSS-Class runs on the same rhythm: each copied skill takes planning, and the earlier work is what wins the fight. It is darker and stranger in tone. Tapas lists 154 episodes and posted a notice on February 27, 2026 that Season 4 has closed before Season 5. Our Take: which manhwa like Overgeared to start with
Our ranking comes down to what you can actually finish. Dungeon Reset goes first because it's the cleanest crafter-hero story and it's complete. My S-Class Hunters and A Returner's Magic Should Be Special come next if what kept you reading was Grid gathering strong people around him. The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor is the best thematic fit and the worst timing.
One thing to know about long VR and system stories: in an r/manhwa thread on the Overgeared anime, a reader noted that "In Overgeared and tomb raider king case, the authors kept milking them until they became unpopular." If a firm ending matters to you, the completed picks (Dungeon Reset, A Returner's Magic) are the safer bets.
How We Checked This
We checked every premise, status, episode count and credit on October 13, 2026 against each series' official Tapas, Tappytoon or WEBTOON page, AniList, Wikipedia and Crunchyroll's trailer, one quoted row per fact in our sources table. That pass fixed three WEBTOON links that pointed at unrelated titles, corrected three premises (Hyun's class, Dungeon Reset's skills, My S-Class Hunters' hero), changed SSS-Class Revival Hunter from "completed" to its real hiatus, and removed an anime region claim and two untraceable images. On October 21 we re-opened every Tapas and WEBTOON page in the table and AniList's status for each pick; two counts moved (My S-Class Hunters, The Beginning After the End) and every status held.
