Space Manhwa: 7 Webtoons Set Among the Stars, Ranked

Korean comics rarely leave the planet. These seven do: a martial arts space western, a man stranded on the moon, an interstellar courier saga and a few shorter trips.

VerdictStart with Space Cheon-ma 3077 if you want action that updates every week, or Moon You if you want a finished story you can read in a few sittings.

9 min readBy Ethan MercerLast reviewed

The best space manhwa to start with is Space Cheon-ma 3077: martial arts sects rule the galaxy, the heroes are broke bounty hunters, and Earth is a radioactive red rock. It updates every Friday on WEBTOON. If you'd rather read something finished, Moon You is about the last man alive, stuck on the moon, and it's done.

Three Korean manhwa covers side by side: a dark-haired young man and a woman in red under a hovering spaceship, an astronaut sketched inside a moon, and a deadpan gray-skinned child under the word DENMA

Space is a small corner of Korean comics. AniList tags just 15 Korean series with Space, and several of those barely leave the ground. The seven below actually go up there, or, in one case, spend the whole story staring at what's coming down.

How we picked these space manhwa

We started from every Korean comic AniList tags with Space, then kept the ones where space is the setting rather than a late-story twist, and that have an official English edition. That dropped The God of High School and Kubera (both tagged Space, neither starts there) and Distant Sky, a Seoul survival story with no stars in its sky but no spaceships either. We ranked what was left by how much of the story happens off-planet and how easy it is to read in English today.

One more qualifies on paper: Space Sweepers, 40 chapters, whose only English home on AniList is Tapas. Tapas ends service on March 31, 2027, so we left it as a footnote rather than send you somewhere that's closing.

To check the number one pick, we read Episode 1 of Space Cheon-ma 3077 on WEBTOON. It opens on a red planet the crew can't believe is the right one: "Is this really it? Feels like we're in the wrong place." A few panels later, a caption names it: "EARTH."

Chapter counts and status are from AniList and each series' WEBTOON or Manta page on October 26, 2026.

1. Space Cheon-ma 3077

Space Cheon-ma 3077 cover: a dark-haired young man in a purple jacket and a woman in a red jacket stand under a hovering spaceship, with the neon title 3077 below Space Cheon-ma 3077 (cover via AniList).

The WEBTOON pitch is "Qi, swords, martial artists… and robots and spaceships?!" Thousands of years after the murim era, humanity lives among the stars under "interstellar martial arts organizations," and bounty hunters Seryeong, Robert and Sunja take a job on "the irradiated wasteland of Earth," where they find "a 2,000-year-old martial artist." If murim is new to you, those organizations are the old sects with starships.

Episode 1 makes the joke work. The fugitive is supposedly "on this super radioactive planet... with zero oxygen?", the tip came from "the Underground Sect" hacking "the Beggar Sect's central system," and the landing coordinates turn out to be a place that "was once called... Mount Tai!" It's a space western where the sect names are a punchline.

It's the most-listed of our seven on AniList (4,360 users, score 73). On WEBTOON it's at Episode 98 from October 22, 2026, with 12 more on the app, 4.8M views and 98,796 subscribers. Skip it if you want hard science; the ship runs on a "qi drive."

2. Moon You

Moon You Korean volume 1 cover: a line drawing of an astronaut's face inside a white moon, on a plain gray background under the title MOONYOU Moon You (cover via AniList).

The quiet one. In WEBTOON's synopsis, after an asteroid destroys Earth, Moon becomes "the last person in existence, or so he thinks," stuck on a lunar research facility, and "humankind is watching his every move from Earth." AniList tags it Space and Philosophy, plus Surreal Comedy, which tells you a lonely premise gets played for laughs.

It's by Cho Seok and finished at 67 chapters on AniList. WEBTOON marks it completed, with 7.9M views and 172,770 subscribers. The website shows the first episodes and sends you to the app for the rest. For more finished reads of this size, see our best short completed manhwa.

3. Denma

Denma Korean volume 1 cover: a deadpan child with gray skin, round ear-like shapes on his head and wide black eyes stares straight out under the title DENMA THE QUANX Denma (cover via AniList).

The space opera. WEBTOON's synopsis: Dike, "the #1 target for bounty hunters across planet Urano," gets drugged in a bar and "wakes up in the body of Denma, a 12-year-old space courier." He works deliveries across the galaxy for a courier company to get his own body back.

Yeong-Sun Yang's series ran 1,414 chapters on AniList, and WEBTOON's English run ended with a series finale on May 19, 2022, at 27M views. Its AniList score is 58 from only 284 users, so treat that number as thin. It's also #1 in our best sci-fi manhwa list. Pick it if you want one series to live in for months.

4. FLOWAR

FLOWAR cover: the title letters FLOWAR in white over splashes of red flowers on a pale blue-green background FLOWAR (cover via AniList).

The strangest pick. Sora Han is "the first and only person in the world to successfully have a plant heart transplant," and since the operation she has "felt an inexplicable pull to go to outer space." At 25 she gets there, and the planet "seems familiar."

AniList tags it Aliens, Body Horror and Clone (all 79%), so expect it to get weird. Finished at 42 chapters, by Hongjacga. WEBTOON marks it completed, with 2.3M views and 95,994 subscribers, and like Moon You the website shows the opening and the app has the rest.

5. Cheolsu Saves the World

Cheolsu Saves the World cover: a man in glasses and a suit stands in front of a burst of red crystal shards under a Korean title Cheolsu Saves the World (cover via AniList).

The highest-scored series here (79 on AniList, 4,240 users), and the one where space is the threat rather than the setting. Manta's synopsis: "Humanity has failed to stop a giant asteroid from plummeting into Earth," and office worker Cheolsu gets a chance to go back in time and stop it. AniList tags it Time Loop, Philosophy and Survival.

It's on Manta, not WEBTOON: 69 episodes, completed, with the first three free. Read it if the space you want is the kind that falls on you.

6. Knight Run

Knight Run cover: silhouetted figures in long coats walk along a tilted edge against a dusky sky, with the title knight run below Knight Run (cover via AniList).

The military one. WEBTOON's pitch asks whether you would "fight against aliens to save the last human beings," and the heroes are "Class S, who fight against aliens with AB swords." AniList's tags are Space, War and Philosophy.

The catch is English. Sung Min Kim started it in 2009 and AniList still lists it as releasing, but WEBTOON's English edition ends at an extra story labeled "(Last Episode)" from September 5, 2017. It has 5.1M views and 104,082 subscribers there. You get the early arcs and then you're out of road.

7. 2015: Space Series

2015: Space Series cover: a pale dark-haired boy is touched on the cheek by a green-haired figure at the edge of the frame 2015: Space Series (cover via AniList).

The sampler. WEBTOON calls it "Collective Comic Essays on the Universe and Beyond": 14 episodes by different artists, ending on May 27, 2015. One of them, "After I Am Gone," is by Currygom, the creator of Kubera, and the titles include "To Earth" and "Salyut."

Each episode stands alone, so it's the easiest way to try space comics without committing. It has 1.2M views and 63,010 subscribers on WEBTOON. Skip it if you want one long story.

Our take

Read Space Cheon-ma 3077 for weekly fun, Moon You for a finished story, and Denma if you want the biggest thing the genre has. The rest are short enough to try in an afternoon. If none of these is quite space enough, our sci-fi list covers AI and alien invasion, and our apocalypse list covers what happens after the sky falls.
