The setup, in WEBTOON's words: Eugene is a powerful mage "whose appearance can frighten anyone out of their wits," and all he wants is to teach Ain, the daughter of his master, so she can become the next archmage. In Korean it's 대마법사 커리큘럼 (Daemabeopsa Curriculum), written and drawn by dungbae, and it's been running on Naver since November 2025. The English edition started on WEBTOON in April 2026. Archmage Curriculum reading order
Read it from episode 1 onward; there's no prequel, spin-off or novel to read first. The English WEBTOON run so far breaks into four stretches.

The middle of the fairy arc isn't one straight line: episode 19 is "Ji-Un Ma", episodes 20 to 24 are a five-part "TL" run, and episode 25 is "Ba-bump!" before the Jelly story wraps up in 26 and 27.
Archmage Curriculum reading guide: how to read it
- Read episodes 1 to 6 as one block. Titles like "Uncle Eugene" and "The Job of a Teacher" tell you where the weight is: on the two of them, not on fights.
- Slow down for episode 7. It's the one episode the rest of the story assumes you understood.
- Treat 10 to 27 as one long stretch: "Lesson Prep" leads into "The Land of the Fairies" at 11, and the Jelly story closes it at 27.
- Catch up, then decide whether to follow WEBTOON's weekly schedule or use the app for the 15 extra episodes.
Archmage Curriculum magic system: what non-circle magic is
We read episode 7, "Non-circle Magic," on WEBTOON for this update. Here's what it shows.
The episode is a fight. Eugene takes on Friednich, a mage the cast treats as the most powerful in the world, while Ain watches. Eugene casts named spells, each captioned as a "second circle spell": an Aegis multielemental full-body protection spell around Ain, then binding vines. Then he asks her to guess how much mana the protection spell cost him. "The answer is zero! I didn't use any mana at all!"
That's the system. Ain has no mana in her heart, and neither does Eugene: "I, your uncle... I mean... your teacher, don't have mana in my heart either." His promise to her is the series' whole curriculum: "I'll teach you how to use magic without using mana!" By the end of the episode Ain is calling it non-circle magic, and Friednich has run.
Two things are worth carrying out of that episode. First, the setting isn't a fantasy kingdom: the aftermath scene mentions a battle on a mountain on the outskirts of Seoul. Second, Ain's father is alive and in the story; the last pages cut to him, and to a closing line that asks whether Eugene is back.

The art. Eugene's design is the draw: "i really like the eldrich abobination mc its really diferent its one of only mc in media thats is depicted this way like he is a horror monstrosity," one reader wrote under an r/manhwa post titled "Unexpected haul of good manhwa." AniList even tags it body horror.
The other running topic is less flattering: Ain's chest, which readers say gets bigger as the series goes on. r/manhwa posts like "They're getting bigger every chapter" collect hundreds of upvotes, and some readers say it's why they dropped the series. AniList doesn't flag the series as adult, but know it going in.

Episode 7 is where the premise pays off, so don't quit before it. If exaggerated character designs make you drop a series, read the first seven episodes and decide there; by readers' accounts it only gets more pronounced.
