Anime Like Lookism: 5 Shows to Watch After Netflix

Start with Viral Hit: it's the show AniList users pair with Lookism most, and it keeps both the underdog and the fights.

VerdictViral Hit first, True Beauty if the looks theme was the point, WIND BREAKER if you came for the gang fights. Lookism's anime is 8 episodes with no sequel listed.

Anime like Lookism is a tricky search, because Lookism is two shows in one. It starts as a story about a bullied kid who wakes up in a second, better-looking body, and it grows into a story about school gangs and who can beat whom. The Netflix anime covers only the start: 8 episodes, all released on December 8, 2022. If you want the same feeling again, watch Viral Hit: on AniList's page for the Lookism anime, it's the show users recommend most. If one half of Lookism mattered more to you, pick below.

This page is anime only. For comics, see manhwa like Lookism; to keep going with the same story, our Lookism reading guide maps the webtoon after the anime stops.

Anime like Lookism: what viewers want more of

AniList's synopsis, taken from Netflix, is one sentence: "In a society that favors good looks, a high school outcast leads a double life switching between his two bodies that are polar opposites in appearance."

That covers the first hook. The second shows up when fans ask why the anime never got a second season. In an r/manhwa thread on exactly that question, the second most upvoted reply reads: "Because the people who enjoy a story about pretty privilege will not watch a 300 episode arc about gangs and their extremely long backstories." Another reply in the same thread says Lookism "had a good start and turned quickly into gang fighting."

So there are two audiences, and no anime we checked serves both equally. The list starts with the one that comes closest, then gives each half its own picks. Every entry says plainly what's missing.

1. Viral Hit: the closest match

Viral Hit Japanese key visual showing Hobin Yu raising his fists inside a smartphone screen, with his classmates lined up below Viral Hit (cover via AniList).

Start here. On the Lookism anime's AniList page, Viral Hit has 52 user recommendations, the most of any show. It's adapted from a WEBTOON series, like Lookism, and it begins in the same place: a high school kid nobody would bet on.

AniList's synopsis calls Hobin Yu "the last guy you'd expect to star in a NewTube channel that revolves around fighting." After following advice from a mysterious channel, he "is soon knocking out guys stronger than him and raking in more money than he could have ever dreamed of."

What it shares is the underdog turning the tables, and the school fights. What it drops is the body swap: Hobin's change comes from learning to fight, not from waking up handsome. AniList lists 12 episodes from spring 2024 and links Crunchyroll. If you've read the comic, our Viral Hit review covers how it compares.

2. I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World...: the second-shot pick

I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World, Too anime cover showing Yuuya swinging a large sword, with a horned red demon and his companions behind him I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too (cover via AniList).

This is the second most recommended show on Lookism's AniList page, with 48 votes, and the reason is the setup. AniList's synopsis opens: "All his life, Yuuya has been bullied at school and neglected by his parents." He finds a door in his late grandfather's house, steps into a magical world, and takes its skills "back to Earth for a new lease on life."

That's Lookism's arc of a mistreated kid getting a do-over, run through an isekai door instead of a second body. It's lighter and much more of a power fantasy, and the source is a Japanese light novel, not a webtoon. AniList lists 13 episodes from spring 2023 by Millepensee, with Crunchyroll and Netflix among the streams.

3. True Beauty: the looks-and-status pick

True Beauty anime cover showing Jugyeong in a school uniform between two male classmates, framed by pink True Beauty lettering True Beauty (cover via AniList).

If the part of Lookism you loved was its point about how school treats you by your face, True Beauty is the closest anime on the subject. It's a Korean webtoon adaptation, and AniList's synopsis starts with a glow-up: "Jugyeong, who transformed herself with makeup, transfers to Saebom High School to leave her past of being bullied behind."

Her school runs an anonymous vote for its "True Beauty goddess," and the plot turns on a rival and on Jugyeong "concealing her makeup-free face." There are no fights here; it's a school romance with a status contest. AniList lists 13 episodes from August to October 2024 on Crunchyroll and links a second season. Our True Beauty review covers the webtoon.

4. WIND BREAKER: the gang-fight pick

WIND BREAKER anime cover showing Haruka Sakura and the Furin High crew in black jackets against a green glow WIND BREAKER (cover via AniList).

For viewers who stayed with Lookism for the crews and the fights, this is the one. AniList's synopsis puts it in a line: "Where the average scores are the lowest, but the fights are the strongest." Furin High School "is renowned as a super school of delinquents," and first-year Haruka Sakura arrives "to fight to the top," only to find the school's gang now protects the town.

One warning, since this site also covers manhwa: this WIND BREAKER is a Japanese manga adaptation. It is not the Korean fixie-cycling webtoon of the same name; Wikipedia's article on the webtoon points readers to "the 2021 Japanese manga series" as a separate work. CloverWorks made both seasons, 13 episodes in spring 2024 and 12 in spring 2025, per AniList, which links Crunchyroll, Netflix and Prime Video for season 1. It's also the highest-scored show here on AniList, at 77 out of 100.

5. The God of High School: the tournament pick

The God of High School anime key visual showing Jin Mori and his friends charging into a fight under a stormy sky, with a giant figure holding a sword above them The God of High School (key visual via AniList).

The last pick is for viewers who want Korean webtoon fighting with a bigger budget. AniList's synopsis describes "a fighting tournament to seek out for the best fighter among all high school students in Korea," and taekwondo student Mori Jin learning "there is something much greater beneath the stage."

It shares Lookism's Korean school setting and its love of one-on-one fights, and it escalates much faster, from a tournament to gods. There's no looks theme at all. MAPPA made it, 13 episodes in summer 2020, with Crunchyroll listed on AniList. Our The God of High School review covers the webtoon behind it.

Our take: which anime like Lookism to start with

Watch Viral Hit first. It's the show Lookism viewers keep getting pointed to, and it's the pick here that does both halves best: the kid nobody respects, and the fights that change that. After that, pick by the hook. True Beauty if the looks-and-status theme was why you watched, WIND BREAKER if the gang fights were.

And if none of these scratch the itch, the honest answer is the source. AniList lists the Lookism anime as finished with no sequel linked, and the 8 episodes cover only the opening of a long webtoon. Our Lookism review explains where the story goes from there.
