This Viral Hit reading guide has a short answer: start at episode 1 and read straight through. The webtoon is finished, and the only side stories are four specials that Naver posted inside the main run. If you watched the anime, you can pick up at chapter 26. If you watched the Netflix live-action, start from the beginning anyway, because that version moved the story to Japan and renamed everyone.

What Viral Hit is about

Viral Hit (싸움독학, roughly "Self-Taught Fighting") is written by Taejun Pak, the creator of Lookism, and drawn by Kim Junghyun. WEBTOON's summary opens: "Scrawny high school student Hobin Yu is probably the last guy you'd expect to star in a NewTube channel that revolves around fighting."
The setup, per Wikipedia: Hobin is bullied, his mother is sick with cancer, and a fight with one of his bullies, Woo Ji-hyuk, goes viral. He starts a NewTube channel and fights bullies for money, learning how from "a mysterious NewTuber with a rooster mask." Anime News Network's review of the first volume fills in the rest: "His dad is out of the picture," and he works a part-time job while in school "to pay off debt."
That's why the reading order is simple. Everything follows Hobin's channel from the first upload, and the fights only make sense if you've seen how little he started with.
How many chapters is Viral Hit?
The story has 218 numbered episodes. Naver Webtoon ran it in Korean from November 2019 to February 2024, and its archive shows 223 entries because it also counts four specials (특별편, posted between episodes 134 and 135) and an afterword (후기) posted a week after the final chapter.
That explains the different totals you'll see. AniList counts 222 chapters (the main episodes plus the four specials), and Naver's 223 adds the afterword. The specials sit in the middle of the run, so read them where they fall. The webtoon was also collected into ten print volumes.
Viral Hit reading guide for anime watchers

The anime, made by Okuruto Noboru, aired 12 episodes on Fuji TV's +Ultra block from April to June 2024 and streams on Crunchyroll. Its Japanese title is Kenka Dokugaku, and it gives the cast Japanese names: Hobin is Kota Shimura and Woo Ji-hyuk is Toru Kaneko, so don't be thrown when the webtoon uses the Korean ones.
Where to continue: Pinkvilla's guide says the anime "covers up to Chapter 26," and MyAnimeList readers agree. One added a useful catch: "the anime didn't adapt everything from the ending so you'll see the same scenes at the beginning." Start at chapter 26, not 27, and you won't miss the bits the last episode cut.

Coming from the Netflix live-action
Netflix's Viral Hit is a Japanese live-action series that premiered on June 11, 2026, with six episodes. It isn't a straight adaptation of the panels: the lead is Kōta Shimura, a bullied student paying for his mother's cancer treatment, who learns to fight from "a mysterious man in a chicken mask."

Our take
Read the webtoon from the start, even if you've seen the anime. The anime's stopping point works as a bookmark, but the first stretch is where Hobin has nothing, and the rest of the series leans on it. The anime is a fair sample of the tone; the Netflix series is its own thing.
Go in knowing what kind of story it is. Anime News Network's reviewer found some of Hobin's experiences "a little too heightened and convenient," to the point that the desperation "borders on unintentional comedy," and still called it "one of the more relatable webtoons that I have read." That's the right expectation: big, loud, and easy to root for.
How We Checked This
On October 15, 2026 we checked the episode list through Naver Webtoon's own API (first episode, final episode, specials, afterword), AniList's records for the webtoon and the anime, WEBTOON's English series page, Wikipedia's pages for Viral Hit and the Netflix series, Anime News Network's volume 1 review, Pinkvilla's after-the-anime guide, the MyAnimeList forum thread quoted above, and the trailer's YouTube listing. The old version of this guide called the lead "Ho-Bin Kwon" and gave him a trainer named "Yuwon"; his name is Hobin Yu, and the series credits a rooster-masked NewTuber as his teacher. We also removed an arc and volume breakdown we couldn't source, a claim about Lookism characters appearing mid-series, and the AniList score. We couldn't count the English episodes from WEBTOON's website, which shows only the first ten.
